How does massage help?
Massage can help to release chronic muscular tension and pain; increase joint flexibility; reduce menatl and physical fatigue; promote faster healing of muscular tissue; improve posture; and reduce blood pressure. It is alo known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of well-being.
During stressful periods, it is quite natural to expend a lot of mental energy - to get "stuck in our heads." During these times, the "fight or flight" process takes over. Massage helps us to reocnnect to our mind and body, helping them function as intended - an efficient, balanced, productive unit.
Where will my massage take place?
Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Music will play to help you relax. You will lie on a table designed for your comfort.
What do I wear?
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however you may decide what amount of clothin you prefer to wear for your own comfort. A gown is provided. Underwear, excluding the bra, is left on. You will be properly draped at all times during the session. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
Will a lubricant be used?
A light oil or lotion will be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excess friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin, be readily absorbed, and be water-soluble. Please advise the therapist if you are allergic to any topical lotion.
